Online abstract submission is now closed. If you have an abstract listed as "in progress" on the abstract submission site, you have until 12:00 PM GMT on Saturday, February 4, 2006 to complete and submit it.
Thank you for your interest in preparing an abstract for the Mercury 2006 conference.
In the abstract submission process, you will be asked to choose the most appropriate topic and session for your presentation. To maximize the visibility and impact of your results, please review the information below before proceeding.
Please Note: Abstracts are limited to 350 words, and we consider posters to be the premium mode of communication for the conference. All posters will be displayed for a full day, and will be given premium space and time on the conference program. Posters that are linked to plenary topics or special sessions will be grouped into modules and further highlighted. In addition, the total number of slots for oral presentations during the conference is limited. Conference attendees may not present more than one oral presentation at the conference. In addition, oral presentations must be created using PowerPoint software and may not be projected using personal laptop computers.
Conference Overview The first four days of the conference will each begin with a Plenary Session. Each plenary is designed to summarize the current state of science in one of four topical areas. A Poster Session is scheduled immediately following each plenary to facilitate continued conversation emanating from the panel discussions. You may want to link your abstract to these vibrant discussions by contributing a plenary-session poster.
Another exciting option is to link your abstract to one of 36 Special Sessions that have been accepted for inclusion in the conference program. Each session was proposed by a group of scientists to facilitate critical synthesis on a well-defined question that has broad international appeal. You can help build this conference from the ground up by contributing a special-session poster or special-session oral presentation. Please note that many of the slots for oral presentations have been assigned by the session chairs. Before requesting an oral presentation, please contact the chair of your preferred session to confirm availability.
Plenary sessions and special sessions may not match the topic of your abstract. If this is the case, please link your abstract to the list of Contributed Sessions. This will allow us to better design additional sessions with the remaining slots for poster and oral presentations.
Thank you for taking the time to understand the overall concept of the conference. During the abstract submission process, you will be asked to indicate your first, second and third preference for possible inclusion of your paper into a session. We recommend that you record your preferences to easily navigate the abstract submission site.
The deadline for submission of all abstracts will be February 1, 2006. Abstracts should be submitted on the conference website and not by other means.
