Health Risks and Toxicological Effects of Methylmercury

Methylmercury availability in invertebrate foodwebs
Session CodeS-HR-6
Session TypePoster
DescriptionMethylmercury bioaccumulates in tissues and can cause behavioral, physiological and reproductive effects.  This has been well-documented in piscivorous animals, but bioaccumulation of methylmercury in insect-eating wildlife can sometimes exceed that of fish-eating birds.  How methylmercury passes through food webs for non-piscivorous wildlife will be the focus of this symposium.
