  Societal Consequences of Mercury Pollution

Mercury Cycling and Biogeochemistry in Tropical and Subtropical Africa
Session CodeS-SC-2
Session TypePoster
DescriptionAfrica has been rather inconspicuous at worldwide “fora”that focus on the impact of metals on the global environment. This may be attributed to the lack of environmental policy and regulations in most African nations. This proposed session is to provoke discussions and stimulate research on environmental and health impacts of mercury in tropical/subtropical Africa, where the production of methyl mercury could be favored by parameters such as climate and geology.
